Overview
The scenic route up Mount Kenya
This 4-day Sirimon Route climb is the most popular and scenic way up Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest mountain. The Sirimon approach offers a gentle, gradual ascent through forest, moorland and the dramatic Mackinder’s Valley — excellent for acclimatisation — before an early-morning push to Point Lenana (4,985m), the trekker’s summit. No technical climbing skills are required, just reasonable fitness and determination.

Frequently asked questions
How high is Mount Kenya and which summit will I reach?
Mount Kenya rises to 5,199m at Batian, its highest peak. Our treks target Point Lenana at 4,985m — the third-highest peak and the goal for trekkers. The higher peaks of Batian and Nelion require technical rock climbing.
How difficult is climbing Mount Kenya?
Reaching Point Lenana is a non-technical high-altitude trek. You need good general fitness but no climbing experience. The main challenge is the altitude, so our itineraries are built to help you acclimatise, and porters carry the group gear.
Why choose the Sirimon Route?
The Sirimon Route has the most gradual ascent profile on Mount Kenya, which greatly aids acclimatisation and your chances of reaching Point Lenana. It is also the most scenic, passing through the beautiful Mackinder’s Valley.
